... Well. If your fatigue was still present I would have more reluctance, but given that you do seem to be in better health these days, I think this is a fine idea. If you can put sentimentality before your fears, then perhaps I should do the same, yes?
[It is rather rare for the cleric, after all. Glacius is glad to see that the effects of the Siphoning have not been purely physical, but mental and emotional as well; if Carlisle thinks this move will help him move further forward and feel like he has a bit more balance to his life, then he is all for it.]
I could meet you here and- well, I am already here, but I could perhaps show you the one I was thinking of claiming as our own. It does seem uninhabited, but- but you need not come now, if you are preoccupied, of course. It will wait.
[After the dreary, depressing slog that their life had become for these past months, Glacius is not used to the exuberance either—but he is glad for it. He chuckles, surprised at first, but becoming genuinely warm very quickly.] If you are there, then I am happy to come; besides, we don't want you going out there for nothing. Where exactly am I heading?
[Glacius is more interested in the latter two, to be honest; when he arrives, he only stops to look at the houses after strolling right up to Carlisle and giving him a hug and a little peck of greeting. Rabbit gets a gentle scritching between the ears as he then turns his head up and out, examining what his partner has brought him out to see.] Hmm... quaint, and far different from what I would normally live in, though I suppose you could say that about all of the places in this city. They are nice, at least; nicer than I had thought they would be. Which one were you looking at?
[Carlisle leads the way to one of the houses, his grin stretching wider across the expanse of his face as he stops before the pathway leading to the front door.]
It- it looks quite different from my estate, of course, but the style is... familiar. And the inside is quite nice. There's a large bath.
[Glacius follows Carlisle, looking this particular house over. His assessment of the dwellings still stand for this one, but if it makes his partner smile, then it must be the right choice. He quirks his own little smile, looking at the human somewhat expectantly.] Well..? Are you going to show me in or am I just going to take your word for it?
Of- of course. I was just waiting for you to go in.
[Ever the follower, reluctant to lead. He makes a good attempts here, heading up to the door and pushing it open. The house certainly has a more open layout than their apartment: rather than being divided into rooms, all of the areas -- kitchen, bedroom, and den -- are spaced apart in one large room that makes up the majority of the house. There's a seat by the big window on the far wall, a few shelves along the sides of the kitchen area, more on the wall that leads to the single enclosed room. That must be the bathroom.]
If- if we wanted to enclose some of these areas, I thought perhaps some curtains around, ah. The bed. Or a glyph? Something to make us both comfortable. And the kitchen is a bit smaller, but we needn't much in terms of size for the two of us, right? And- and there's a space behind the house that has a fence around it, and I thought I could, ah. You know. Plants. And the bath is- well, it's right over here—
[He pushes the door open, his smile betraying his nerves as he reveals what is, indeed, a large bath. It's built right into the floor with only a short wall around it to separate it from the rest of the room -- what rest of the room there is. Save for the pedestal for the sink, a couple of cabinets, and the closet, there isn't room for much else, as the tub takes up nearly the entire space. There's a wide window on one wall, giving a view toward their potential garden.
[Glacius follows Carlisle inside, starting to look around where the human gestures, assessing this dwelling for himself. It is not at all what he has expected, and somehow even further from what a traditional home would be like if built by his people; it is lacking the compartmentalization of almost all its rooms, which is odd. It also does not seem like they are gaining any more space despite moving into a standalone dwelling; that may be problematic for a member of a large species, but the openness of the main room and the height of the ceiling help to keep the alien from feeling cramped.
It is the bath that offers the most improvement in that regard; though their previous one had been small, too small in fact to contain Glacius' long and muscular limbs comfortably if he wanted to soak, this one takes up almost the entire room. He can think of a few ways that might be useful beyond his own comfort, which is enough that a little grin tugs at the corners of his cheekbones.] I am sure that I can adjust to this, especially if it makes you happy—and I do have to admit, it does seem like we will be able to make this space more our own. The house is bare, it has space for a garden... and the bath actually has room for the both of us, now.
[Glacius cannot help but swivel his head to look directly at Carlisle as his smile grows.] I suppose you will have to perfect that glyph now, won't you?
[Try as he might to meet his partner's eyes as Glacius brings up exactly what was on his mind, Carlisle finds himself looking away, sheepishness overcoming him despite all they've been through, all they've shared.]
I have been... working on it, aheh. I believe I- I might be close, as the application is very similar to my garden barriers.
[He rubs at the back of his neck, chuckling in embarrassment, realizing his own abashment.]
I don't know why I feel so nervous about this. About the glyph and the bath and even just- just bringing you here, and talking about- about um.
[Nope, still too difficult. His face feels like it's on fire.]
I'm still not used to the sudden intensity of it all. Of how I feel even day-to-day. It's wonderful, but taking longer to adjust than I would like, as though I don't remember what it's like to even be like this.
[Glacius' brows raise in surprise slightly; every now and again Carlisle has been quite adept at taking teasing flirtations in stride, and he supposes that he assumed this moment was private enough where his partner would feel comfortable. He relents, though, tempering his gaze somewhat in exchange for putting a reassuring hand on his shoulder.] It is alright. I mean... you were on death's doorstep for a long time, there. [Before he would not have dared to speak so plainly about Carlisle's condition, as dealing with it was painful enough; now that danger has passed, it feels both easier and safer to discuss it.]
And before that, you were still accustomed to life with your curse. I know it is still there, but... it is not the same any more, and any time a core part of our life—whether good or bad—is removed or altered, it takes adjusting. I think that we should embrace it; if you experience as much of as many things possible, perhaps you will get used to it faster..?
[Carlisle brings his own hand to his shoulder, letting it rest upon Glacius'.]
Yes, perhaps. For years, I lived a dulled life, muted both by my condition and need for control over it. We have both seen how consuming it can be when I am overwhelmed, and such moments were far too frequent at times, given my general temperament.
[In other words, he's a nervous mess who never learned healthy coping mechanisms, often incapable of reeling in his own emotions, and he knows it. Being in a town where gods feed upon said emotions, doing their best to stir them within the general populace, has not helped.]
I have merely forgotten what I was like before all this. I was young, and never could have imagined how much of a specter of myself I could become. [He runs a hand through his hair, laughing pitiably.] I'm already finding faded hairs again.
And my spikes do not have the sheen they once used to. Time marks us all, Carlisle... but we have afforded you more, and I am grateful for every extra minute that we get together. [Still, it is not hard to detect the nervousness and regret in his partner. Glacius titls his head, leaning down to regard his partner.]
If you ever feel worried, though, just let me know. You can always draw more from me... I have strength to spare for you yet.
